Date of birth of my son is 26th June, 2015 and now he is studying in UKG class. School denied to give him admission in class 1 next year. How to save his year now? And, what is the standard age limit for class 1 set by CBSE Board?

As per CBSE rules and guidelines, student have attained at least 5 years age on 31st of March in the year (in which the student is seeking admission). Maximum age of the student to get admission into Class 1 is 7 years.

Since your child's DOB is 26th June, 2015, so your child's age in April 2019 will be 4 years only. While in April 2020, your child's age will be 5 years.

Hence, you will have to wait for 1 year for your child to get admission in CBSE school. Because, no CBSE school will admit your son in Class 1 as age criteria is between 5-7 years.

CBSE has not declared any age limit criteria to get admission in std 1 or to appear for the board examination.

It is the duty of the Directorate of State Education to determine the age criteria to appear for the examination or to get admission in std 1.
