As mentioned above this is very basic difference and very imp one. while there are a lot differences in number of colleges that you can apply, using CAT Score there are a lot colleges that you can apply in. The Exam Patterns for both are quite different and also in toughness. Best Luck |

Re: What could be the basic difference between CAT and MAT?
Basically there is no difference between CAT and MAT as both are entrance test for admission to the MBA(Master in Business Administration).
CAT-COMMON ADMISSION TEST conducts by IIM(INDIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT) for admission to MBA course in top business school under IIM. MAT-MANAGEMENT APTITUDE TEST conducts by AIMA(ALL INDIA MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION) for admission to same course as in IIM. |

Re: What could be the basic difference between CAT and MAT?
CAT and MAT these two are the major entrance examinations to enter into MBA programs.
CAT is quite difficult than MAT. CAT is conducted by IIM’ s and several A grade B schools judge the students based upon the Cat score.. MAT is easier compared to CAT and this score is mainly useful in B schools which are lower than A grade.. Common admission test(CAT) is a mandatory entrance examination conducted by the India Institutes of Management for granting admission in the management programs of all the six IIMs. Besides IIMs, there are other management schools too, which consider the CAT scores as the main eligibility criteria for enrolling students in their management courses. After successfully clearing the CAT test, you have to clear the group discussion and interview rounds as well to secure a place for yourself in MBA program. All India Management Aptitude Testing Service (AIMATS), New Delhi conducts the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) as the National Entrance Test for admission to MBA and equivalent programmes of the various participating institutes. MAT is held 4 times a year for admission to several management institutes which come under AIMA. If one gets selected in an off-season (like the September or December MAT), one gets selected for the process of the concerned institute and will undergo it once the institute formally launches the admission process. The exam is considered to be the easiest of all National level management entrance exams. It tests on the usual abilities of numeracy, verbal, reading comprehension and Data and Logic interpretation. |
