What is the educational and other criteria for Fighter Pilot?

Can I become a Fighter Pilot after completing B.Sc in Electronics? Is this qualification enough? Or, do I need to do any other courses? What are the other requirements? Is there any entrance also for Fighter Pilot job?

To become Fighter pilot in Indian Air Force, there are multiple ways like:
  • National Defence Academy (NDA)
  • Combined Defence Services (CDSE)
  • NCC Entry and Short Service Commission Entry (SSC)
  • Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT)

Since, you have completed B.Sc. in Electronics, so you can appear for CDSE and SSC exams only. Just because for appearing in NDA exam, age limit is 16.5 to 19.5 years.

CDSE - After qualifying CDSE exam, you will be entitled to undergo training in Air Force Academy as per your marks/rank. After successful completion of training, candidates will get Permanent Commission Officers' and will be posted as Pilots in IAF station.

NCC Special Entry - If candidates are having Air Wing Senior Division C Certificate, then they are eligible for NCC Special Entry. Their joining is done through NCC Air Squadrons further which they get Permanent Commission Officer's post.

AFCAT - AFCAT is conducted by IAF. Successful candidates are admitted to SSC for a term of 14 years. Candidates are hired on Technical, Flying and Ground Duty branches. Here, you can choose Flying branch to become Fighter Pilot.
Do you have any question? or have anything to say?
