What is the eligibility criteria required to join the Indian Army? Can someone please provide me the complete details? What is the minimum criteria required? Awaiting for the response soon as possible. Please provide the information.

To join in Indian Army, you must have to appear in National Defence Academy (NDA) examination by satisfying the below mentioned eligibility criteria :-

1. You must be a citizen of India.

2. You must have attained the minimum age of 16 1/2 years and must not have crossed the maximum age of 19 years.

3. You must have completed 12th standard or equivalent from a recognised board.

4. You must be an Unmarried Male candidate

5. You must be Physically and Mentally fit.

If you have completed graduation degree from a recognized university then you are eligible for Indian Army through CDS exam.

CDS stands for Combined Defence Service exam.

Eligibility criteria:-

Indian Military academy: You should have completed graduation in any stream from a recognized university.

Officers Training Academy: You should have completed graduation in any stream from a recognized university.

Age Criteria:-

Indian Military Academy: - 19-24 Years
Officer's Training Academy: - 19-25 Years

One can join Indian Army through NDA or CDS exam.Both the exams are conducted by the UPSC twice a year in order to make recruitment in different wings of Indian Defense forces.

Eligibility criteria for NDA exam :-

-The candidate must have citizenship of India.

-The age limit to apply for the exam should be between 16.5 years to 19.5 years.

-Only unmarried male candidate can apply for the exam.

-The candidate should have passed 12th class of 10+2 education system from a recognized board for Indian Military Academy and 10+2 with Physics,Chemistry and Mathematics for Indian Naval Academy and Indian Air Force Academy.

-The selection process involves of

* Written Examination

* Personal Interview by Service Selection Board

-The candidate should be physically fit as per the Physical Standards required to join NDA.

-Written exam is conducted for 2 subjects;

* Maths -300 marks

* General Ability Test-600 marks



Eligibility criteria for CDS exam :-

-The candidate must be an Indian.

-Academic qualification :

Indian Military Academy/Officer's Training Academy - Graduation in any discipline.

Indian Naval Academy - Bachelor of Engineering.

Indian Air Force Academy - 10+2 level degree with Physics and Mathematics or Bachelor of Engineering.

-Age limit :

Indian Military Academy- 19 years to 24 years

Indian Naval Academy-19 years to 22 years

Indian Air Force Academy-19 years to 23 years

Officer's Training Academy-19 years to 25 years

-The candidate should be physically fit as per the Physical Standards for admission to CDS exam.

-Selection process involves of

*Written Exam

*Interview by Services Selection Board.

To join Indian Army as as officer ( lieutenant ) basically you have to option on the basis of your qualification which are through NDA examination or through CDS examination.

-->NDA stands for National Defense Academy while CDS stands for Combined Defense Services. Both these entrance examinations are held twice every year by Union Public Service Commission in two stages which includes Written examination and Service Selection Board interview respectively.

--> The minimum qualifications which is required for appearing in the NDA entrance examination are here under :-

* You must be an unmarried Indian male candidate with your age lying within 16.5 years to 19.5 years.

* You must have completed your higher secondary school degree with any stream or any degree equivalent to same from a recognized university.

--> And, for CDS entrance examination the qualifications which you must possess are as here under :-

* You must have nationality of India with your age lying within 19 years to 24 years.

* You must have completed your bachelor degree course or must be in the final year of same degree course from a recognized university.

For both the examinations, physical fitness as required for must as after clearing these examination one has to face medical test as well.

If you wants to go in the ARMY SECTOR then you should take science streams with maths in 11th std. No commerce students or Arts students are allowed to appear in the ARMY sector.

If you are going through Non technical Openings only then you can appear for the ARMY sector directly ,otherwise if you are going through the NDA then you should have minimum qualification of 12th With science streams having Math as main subject.


Other eligibility criteria for the NDA entrance exams are :

Age :16 ½ to 19 years
Nationality:Indian
Marital Status: Unmarried
Gender: Only Male candidates.

Else you can join Army sector through CDS exam, CDS means "combined defence serices" and the education criteria is to have Graduation degree in any streams. It does not matter either you have Math or you have any other subject. Hence you can choose any of your strong subject.

To crack CDS entrance exam you need to focus on the syllabus of CDS entrance exam and by doing so you will get proper guidance for the preparation of CDS exam.

This is very important exam because this is a very simple way to get government job also the job through CDS comes under A grade of central government. With the help of CDS also you can get job into Army, Air Force as well as in Navy.

The CDS entrance exams are conducted by UPSC, and this is one of most standard exam in India. The shortlisted candidates are called for the SSB interview and final selection of candidates is done only on the merit basis.

Being a female can I join army or other defense after completing Bachelor of Physical Education and I'm from arts stream.
