Hello Dear,

NET stands for National Eligibility Test is conducted by UGC for lectureship and P.HD

Eligibility for UGC NET

Educational Qualification:
post graduate with 55% OR
its equivalent from university recognized
For SC/ST & PWD candidate 50% in post graduate.

Candidate who are appearing qualifying exam are also eligible for this exam.

Age:
For JRF, Candidate not more than 28 years.
For Lectureship minimum 19 year maximum no limit
As relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD 5 years

I believe what you are talking about is National Eligibility Test which is conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The National Eligibility Test is for candidates who are interested in college lectureship and PhD.

You must be post graduate to appear for National Eligibility Test. The qualification criteria is same whether you are applying for Junior Research Fellowship or the College Lectureship.

The National Eligibility Test takes place twice in a calendar year. First time it takes place in June and second time in December. On both occassions it is conducted by the University Grants Commission.


Eligibility

1. You should be citizen of India.

2. Must have post graduation degree in any stream.

3. You should have completed post graduation from UGC recognized university.

4. At least 55 percent marks in post graduation.

5. Upto 5 percent relaxation for SC/ST.

6. Final year students can also appear for NET.

7. But final year students have to mandatory submit degree in 2 years.

8. NET subject should be relevant to your post graduation course.

9. There is no limit on number of attempts per candidate.


Age Limit

1. The age limit is 28 years for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).

2. Upto 3 years relaxation for OBC candidate.

3. There is 5 years relaxation for SC/ST applying for JRF.

4. No upper age limit for college lectureship.

UGC - University Grant Commision

NET - National Eligibility Test

NET exam conducted by UGC two time in a year. Always net exam held in the months of June and December and notification are published in the months of March and September in employment news and ugc website.

NET exam result of june month declared generally in the month of october. Similarly december month result declared in the month of April.

To appearing in this exam you must Post graduate degree in any subject with 55% from any recognised university.

Final year of post graduation student also can apply for net exam.

Age limit for jrf is between 19 to 28 year. Reserve candidate get relaxation.
There is no upper age limit for lecturership.

The acronym for UGC is University Grants Commission.

UGC conducts NET(National Eligibility Test) examination twice every year in the months of June and December for the posts of JRF and Lecturership.

The eligibility criteria required for UGC NET examination are prescribed as below:-

* Completion of post- graduation with a minimum of 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST contendors) from any recognised university.

* Age limit- 18-28 yrs for JRF and no age bar for Lecturership.

Hi,
National eligibility test (NET) exam which is conducted by the UGC mostly in the month of June / July.
The minimum eligibility criteria requires for applying to the NET exam is as follows:-
a) Must be a citizen of India
b) Age limit should be 21-30 years.
c) Educational qualification :- Must has passed out Master degree with a subject in which you want to do teaching from a recognized university which comes under UGC.
The syllabus pattern followed for the written exam is as follows :-
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE
GENERAL ENGLISH
GENERAL STUDIES
OPTIONAL SUBJECT (Which a candidate has to choose based on the specialization in your Master degree)
Selection is based on written exam / Interview and on Merit

CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY FOR UGC-NET:


i)

Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree OR equivalent examination from universities/institutions recognised by UGC in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science etc. are eligible for this Test. The Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with disability (PWD) category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this Test.



ii)
Candidates who have appeared OR will be appearing at the qualifying Master’s degree (final year) examination and whose result is still awaited OR candidates whose qualifying examinations have been delayed may also apply for this Test. However, such candidates will be admitted provisionally and shall be considered eligible for award of JRF/Lectureship eligibility only after they have passed their Master’s degree examination or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC/ST/PWD (Persons with disability) category candidates). Such candidates must complete their P.G. degree examination within two years from the date of NET result with required percentage of marks, failing which they shall be treated as disqualified.


iii)
The Ph.D. degree holders whose Master’s level examination had been completed by 19th September, 1991 (irrespective of date of declaration of result) shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks (i.e., from 55% to 50%) for appearing in NET.


iv)
Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their post-graduation only. The candidates whose post-graduation subject is not covered in the list of subjects in item No. 9, may appear in a related subject.


v)
Candidates seeking concession in fee are required to submit attested copy of their OBC (Non-creamy layer)/SC/ST/PWD certificate along with online printout of their Application Forms (obtained while applying on-line). Other candidates are not required to submit any certificates/documents in support of their eligibility along with printout of their Application Form. Therefore, the candidates, in their own interest, must satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the Test. In the event of any ineligibility being detected by the Commission at any stage, their candidature will be cancelled and they shall be liable for legal action.


vi)
Candidates with post-graduate diploma/certificate course(s) or foreign degree/diploma should in their own interest, ascertain the equivalence of their course(s) with Master’s degree of recognized Indian universities from Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.
