The physical requirements to write ips exam are:

Height: The male candidate should be 165cm and female candidate should be 150cm for general category candidates. In the case of candidates coming under SC/ST/OBC the height required is 160cm for male and 145cm for female.

Chest: Minimum requirement in the case of male candidates is 84cm and they should be able to expand the chest for 5cm. In the case of female candidates the minimum requirement is 79cm and they should be able to expand the chest for 5cm.

Eye sight: 6/12 or 6/9 distant vision for worse eye and 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. Near vision for worse eye is J2 and for good eye is J1.

The physical standards are essential for IPS, which includes weekly run for 10kms in 60 minutes, rope climbing, horse riding, PT obstacles, etc…

In the written exam height doesn't matter.. But as per the exam structure you have minimum 154cm height...

Its not fixed varied as per the cast OBC/SC/ST structure...

The IPS examination was conducted by UPSC Every year. And to apply for this examination you need bachelor degree from a recognised colleges and university and your age should between 21 to 30 years.

Height required for ips exam is 165cm(5.4 feet) for males and 150cm(4.9 feet) for females in general category which reduces to 160cm(5.2 feet) and 145cm(4.7 feet) respectively in case of SC/ST/OBC category cantidates.

i think the minimum heigth required to become an ips officer is 167 for male. it is said by one of the ips officer..............

this civil service exam is conducted by UPSC every years,
educational requirement-
graduation degree in any stream from a recognized college.

The age limit-
21-30 yaers for a general candidate
21-33 for OBC candidate
21-35 for SC\ST candidate.

Physical requirements-
height-for males 165 cm ,and for females 150 cm (5 cm relaation for st\obc candidate)

Chest-184 for males & 179 for females with the expansion of 5 cm.

You need to be 160 cm height if male and for female it is 150cm.
But height alone can not guarantee you the IPS service. You need to meet the required criteria of all physical fitness like vision,hearing etc.
I mentioned some details below, please have a look::

Eye sight - 6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye. 6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye.
Near vision J 1 for good eye. J2 for worst eye.
The correction is by lenses only.
High standard for the Colour-blind test.
No inherent night blindness.
Vision should stereoscopic.

Height: 165cm

Chest girth fully expanded: 84cm (Expansion: 5cm)

Eye Vision:

High Grade Colour Vision.

Binocular Vision.

Refractive Error Permitted-

Total Amount of Hypermetropia(including cylinder) shall not exceed plus 4.00D

Total Amount of Myopia(including cylinder) shall not exceed minus 4.00D. However, if its a non-pathological case of myopia, it can be relaxed.

Spectacles allowed but no mention of lasik. Therefore, lasik is not allowed.
