There are many types of Linux operating system, basically it is developed many years ago, and its modified in new version,here are the major OS of Linux.:-

1. Ubuntu

Ubuntu is the no. 1 in desktop platform,it has many interesting applications and it can be installed very easily without booting.

2. Debian

It is mainly based on GNU Linux, it is created by Murdock.

3. Fedora

Fedora is sponsored by Red Hat. It tries with leading technologies as the release cycle is very short and also it distributes new software for its updates.

4. Red Hat

This is the most popular Linux for servers,if they are using mission critical applications,then it is highly recommended to use this one.
