There is no actual difference between Social Studies and Social Science it is just the two ways in which you can call it as your choice .
The Social Science has four parts which are as :- I) History :- Study of the past events . II) Civics :- Study about the different forms of government and administrative works ,constitutional works etc. . III) Geography :- Study about the demographics of world . IV) Economics :- Study of finance and business .Also how to establish relation different aspects of same to have more profit . Till the secondary examination you will have to study basic thing of all the above as a whole termed as Social Science or Social Studies . |

Re: What is the relationship between social studies and social science?
Social Science and social studies are generally the words which are used as a replacement of each other many a times.
Though the difference between them is slight but then it needs to be understood clearly so that the relation between the two can be formulated. When we talk about social sciences, then we talk about subjects like history, geography, civics and Polity. On the other hand social studies takes all these into account along with subjects like Mathematics and Humanities. Social sciences are basically an integrated part of Social Studies. It combines all the aspects of all the social studies and then provide a mathematical and social platform on which these sciences can be explained. |

Social science and social studies are completely different from each other. If we go any deeper then only we would get to know that there is a very vast difference in both of them.
SOCIAL SCIENCE :- In this subject, we generally study about the day to day aspects which are directly connected to our social life. Major subject that comes under social science are Geography, Economics, Physiology, Psychology and History, Social Studies :- This is a subject which is taught in every school till class vth and the motto behind is to get the student know about the basics of society before actually going out and meeting the people and incidences of real life. |

Hello,
There is just a slight difference between them and both of them are used interchangeably as time passes . Social science is the study of human societies and their relations among each other while Social studies is the integrated study of multiple fields of social science including humanities including history , geography etc. |

Re: What is the relationship between social studies and social science?
Quote:
Social science is, in its broadest sense, the study of society and the manner in which people behave and impact on the world around us. Some experts however argue that no single definition can cover such a broad church of academic disciplines, deploying a wide range of approaches to gathering evidence. Instead they simply define the sciences by listing the subjects they encompass. Each of these subjects uses a range of approaches to the study of society - from the collection and analysis of statistics to the collation of responses to questionnaires and interviews. Like the other sciences, the social sciences evolve through the interplay of the ideas and theories of academics, and the evidence that supports or refutes them. Social scientists shape our lives usually without us even being aware. Social studies on the other hand is the study that fosters an understanding ans appreciation of the world in which you live in terms of values, tradition, cultures, history and government. |
