What are the types of subjects in IAS?


sir iam phani iam completed engineer with ece group .i dont know about what groups are in civils.and which group is suitable for me?

IAS Eligibility :

Candidates must be Indian

Candidates must be complete Graduation in any stream from a recognized university

Candidates age limit between 20 to 30 years , age relaxation as per govt rules

IAS stands for INDIAN ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES to be an IAS officer one should appear for Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC every year.

Those candidate have completed graduate from any recognized university with any discipline are eligible for IAS exam.

Your age should be in between 22 to 30 years old.Age relaxation is provide for SC/ST/OBC category as per govt rule.

You have completed graduation degree in ECE department so you are applicable for IAS exam ,I have listed the optional subjects you can choose those subject as your strength.

In optional subject list their is no subject which are related to ECE . But one subject is just related to ECE electrical engineering .You can choose this subject also .

So you can choose one of these scoring subject like History , Pol science , Philosophy etc.

Optional subject are -



These combinations of optional subjects not allowed -
  1. Political Science & International Relations and Public Administration
  2. Commerce and Management
  3. Anthropology and Sociology
  4. Maths and Statistics
  5. Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science
  6. Management and Public Administration
  7. Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Medical Science
  8. Any two branches of engineering.

Helo, to become an IAS officer, you need to fight a competition of CSE conducted by UPSC every year.

Guidelines-

Eligibility Criteria-
- should be an indian citizen
- 21<aspirant's age<30 (3 yrs relaxation for OBC's and 5 yrs relaxation for SC/ST's)
-a graduate in any stream

You can opt for any of the subjects based on your qualification. The optional subject will be in the Mains Exam.

Those who pass CSAT are only eligible for Mains Exam.

Suitable Subjects for IAS


The Civil Services Exam are conducted every year by UPSC for selections of IAS and IPS Officers..

Candidates who wish to appear for the Civil Services must satisfy the following conditions :-

>> Candidate must be within the age limit 21-30 years (general)

>> 21-33 years for OBC

>> 21-35 years for SC/ST and 21-40 years for PD candidates..

>> General candidates have a max of 4 attempts, OBC have 7 whereas there is no limit for SC/ST/PD candidates..

>> Candidates must have completed their graduation in any stream from a recognized University..


the Civils written exam consists of 2 stages :-

>> Prelims :- 2 objective papers
>> Mains :- 9 subjective papers


After clearing the Mains..you will be called for the final interview round..

You can also go to http://upsc.gov.in to know more about Civil Services Exam..

I have attached the list of optional subjects which you can opt for based on your graduation subjects..(English is compulsory for all)
