What is the upper age limit for appearing in IAS examination?


sir i m domicile of jammu and kashmir and am presently working in govt department... what is the upper age limit for me to appear in IAS examination..

Dear sir,
The usual upper age limit for a General candidate is 30 years, but a maximum of 5 years relaxation is present if a candidate had been domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir during the period between January 1, 1980 and December 31, 1989, so in this case the upper limit is 35 years.

After graduation you can apply for I.A.S exam.
I.A.S exam is conducted by U.P.S.C once in a year.

Age should be in between 21-30 year. For ST/SC candidate age should be in between 21-33 year.

You can apply online or offline.
The Form cost is just 20 Rs.

Date of notification:-04.02.2012
Last Date of receipt of form:- 05.03.2012(MONDAY)
Date of exam(Preliminary):- 20.05.2012(SUNDAY)
Date of exam(Mains):- 05.10.2012(FRIDAY)




You can apply online or offline.
The Form cost is just 50 Rs.

Eligibility Criteria for IAS:
1. One must be graduate in any stream from recognized University.

2. Age Limit: 21-30 yrs. (for general category),
No limit for Scs/STs
21-33 yrs. for OBC

You can apply according to this criteria. The exam for IAS is conducated by UPSC once in a year.

The candidate must be graduate from any university.

Age Limit :
For General :21 to 30 years.
[SC/ST will get 5 years age relaxation and OBC will get 3 year age relaxation]

General : 4.
SC/ST: Unlimited.
OBC :7.

IAS Stands for Indian Administrative Service

Age Eligibility For IAS Examination : -

For General Candidates minimum age is 21 and maximum age is 30 years

For SC/ST candidates minimum age is 21 and maximum age is 35 years

For OBC Candidates minimum age is 21 and maximum age is 33 years



Education Qualification :-

Candidates must have a bachelor of degree in any stream from any recognized university

Nationality : -

Candidates should be a citizen of India

Number of Attempts :-

4 Attempts for General Candidates

7 Attempts for OBC Candidates

no restriction for SC/ST candidates

Selection Procedure : -

1. Preliminary Examination

2. Mains Examination

3. Interview.............etc.........

Completion of graduation in any discipline from any recognised board.

Age limit- 21-30 yrs for General, 21-33 yrs for OBC, 21-35 yrs for SC/ST contendors.

No of attempts- 4 for General, 7 for OBC, and no limit of attempts for SC/ST contendors.

The above is the eligibility criteria to apply for IAS exam.

IAS - Indian Administrative Service and to become an IAS officer one has to get through Civil Service Exam conducted by UPSC once every year.

The upper age limit for Civil Service Exam is 30 years for General candidate which is relaxed for reserved candidate. The age limit for various category candidates are as follows:-

General - 21 to 30 years

OBC - 21 to 33 years

SC/ST - 21 to 35 years

Besides the eligible candidate must be an Indian national having either appear for the final Graduation Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised Board.

IAS exam is conducted by UPSC. But IAS candidate recruit through Civil Service Exam .

Those candidate have completed graduation in any discipline from recognized university are eligible for IAS exam.Final year graduate candidates are also apply for this examination.There is not required any kind of percentage marks in graduation.

Age criteria :-

Candidates age should between 21 years to 30 years for general candidates

5 years relaxation for SC/ST candidates
3 years relaxation for OBC Candidates
10 years relaxation for PHC candidates
5 years relaxation for Ex-serviceman

Attempt Limit:-

General Candidate can maximum 4 Times
OBC Candidate can Maximum 7 Times
SC/ST there is no attempt Limit

Optional subjects for IAS main exam:-

Economics , Electrical Engineering,Geography, Geology ,History, Law,Management,Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science and International Relations, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology,Statistics, Zoology, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Anthropology,Botany, Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Commerce and Accountancy.

Last date of submission: 04/03/2013
Date of prelim exam. 19/05/2013

Final years student who are waiting for their final result can also apply for it....

General Age Limit is 21-30 years. but there is relaxation is available for reserved category (FOR OBC +3 , FOR SC/ST +5).....
