I got 45% in MA so I'm not eligible to appear for NET examination? However, if I do M.Phil and get 50% then will I be able to apply for NET examination? And, I belong to Schedule Caste category. Is there any benefit of this?

NET refers to National Eligibility Test and the minimum education required to apply for the same examination is a master's degree in concerned subject with at least 55% marks from a recognised university. Marks relaxation upto 5% is allowed for candidates belonging to SC/ST or PH categories.

So, having completed your MA degree course with just 45% marks, you are not eligible to apply for NET even if you belong to SC category and hold in any higher degree.
