The applicant must be a resident of India or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan. Tibetan Refugees who came to India before 1st Jan 1962 are also eligible to apply.

Any Indian origin person migrated from countries like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, and Eastern African Countries with an intention of permanently residing in India are also eligible to apply.

Candidates from above-mentioned neighboring countries must hold an eligibility certificate from Government of India.

The eligibility criteria to apply for UPSC Engineering Services examination 2019:

1. You must have passed Bachelor's degree i technology or engineering. You can appear for exam in civil, electrical, mechanical and Electronics and communication engineering.

2. The age limit is 21-30 years as on 1st January, 2019.

You must apply for IES examination before 22nd October, 2019.

To be eligible to apply for UPSC Engineering Services examination 2019, you should have passed graduate degree in any discipline from a Government recognised university.

You should be in the age range of 21 to 30 years as on 01.01.2019. Upper age relaxation is applicable to reserved category candidates as per government rules.

The basic qualifications required to apply for the UPSC〔Union Public Service Commission〕Engineering Services examination are as below :-

1. You must hold the citizenship of India.

2. Your age must lie in between 21 years to 30 years as on 1st January 2019. Age relaxation is allowed for reserved category candidates or government employees as per the government norms.

3. You must have completed Bachelor of Engineering/ Bachelor of Technology 〔B.E./B.Tech〕degree from a university recognized by AICTE and UGC.

Engineering Services examination is just like Civil Services examination for B.Tech and B.E candidates. Candidate who have done bachelor's degree in engineering or technology from a recognized university or institute can apply for exam. It must be known that regardless of stream, you have to appear for exam in either civil or electrical or mechanical or ECE.

The age criteria as on 1st January, 2019 is 21-30 years for open category candidates. OBC and SC/ST candidates are eligible for three years and five years upper age relaxation.
