I have heard that according to the new rules issued by ministry of railway, now SCRA exam(conducted by UPSC) will be held 'only once in two year'.
So, kindly tell me SCRA exam is taken in a year 1 times or how many times?

Yes, the information what you heard about SCRA examination is right. According to the new rules issued by the Ministry of Railways, the exam is now conducted only once in two years. That means, from now onwards the SCRA exam will not be held once a year and it will be held once in every two years.

SCRA stands for South Central Railway Apprentice. The SCRA examination is conducted by UPSC twice a year for selection of candidates for Railway Operations. Candidates who wish to appear for SCRA must satisfy the eligibility criteria mentioned below :-

1. Candidates must have passed 12th or an equivalent examination from a recognised board approved by the Government of India with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics or Chemistry as subjects of the examination.

2. Candidates must be 17-21 years old as on 1st August of the year of examination. Age relaxation is applicable to the reserved category candidates as per government rules.

Candidates who have qualified in Written Test will be called for Personal Interview and Medical Test. Candidates who have qualified in Personal Interview and Medical Test will be finally selected into the Indian Railways.

SCRA stand for Special Class Railway Apprentice. SCRA exam is conducted by the UPSC every year.

Applicant should have completed 12th examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics as compulsory subjects from a recognized School or equivalent qualification and candidates who are doing final year of 12th can also apply for this examination.

Those who have completed Bachelor's degree with Physics and Mathematics may also apply for this examination and there is no percentage bar to apply for SCRA examination.

Your age should be in between 17 to 21 years old.
