What are the qualifications of getting a selection in NDA and How Its Training is done?

Please find below the required qualification to get selected for NDA.

You must have completed class 12 or its equivalent from any recognized board or institute to get eligible for the Army Wing of NDA. Also, You must have completed class 12 or its equivalent with a subject combination of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from any recognized board or institute to get eligible for the Air Force and Naval Wings of NDA.

At NDA, the training session lasts a total of 6 terms or 3 years. There are two terms each year.*spring which falls in the month*of January to May*and autumn which falls in the month*from*July to December. Cadets are trained and taught several sports during these three years in addition to education.

To get selected for the National Defence Academy (NDA), candidates need to fulfill the following eligibility criteria:

Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens.

Age: Candidates must be between 16.5 to 19.5 years old at the time of applying.

Educational qualification: Candidates must have passed 10+2 examination from a recognized board.

Marital status: Candidates must be unmarried.

Physical standards: Candidates must be physically fit and meet the prescribed medical standards.

The selection process for NDA involves a written examination, followed by an interview conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB).

The NDA training is conducted in two phases:

Academic Training: The academic training is conducted at the National Defence Academy (NDA) and spans three years. During this period, cadets are trained in a wide range of subjects such as science, mathematics, history, social science, and languages.

Military Training: The military training is conducted at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun, for Army cadets, and Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala, for Naval cadets. Air Force cadets are trained at the Air Force Academy, Dundigal, Hyderabad. The military training spans one year and includes physical fitness training, outdoor activities, drill, weapon training, and other aspects of military life.

Upon successful completion of the training, cadets are commissioned as officers in the Indian Armed Forces.
