You can apply for Ph.D in your respective subject, if you have passed Post Graduation with at least 55% marks from a recognized University. The admission is based on entrance examination conducted by the respective University.

Those who have qualified UGC NET are exempted from appearing in the University entrance exam for Ph.D admission. Hence, you can appear for UGC NET, if you have got 55% marks in your Post Graduation. There is relaxation of 5% marks for those who belong to reserved category.

The admission notification for Ph.D is released by various Universities in India from time to time and you have to keep track of it, so that you don't miss it.

As far as age limit is concerned for Government colleges lecturer post, there isn't any age limit if we go by the UGC NET eligibility criteria. For Lecturership there is no age limit mentioned in the UGC NET notification and this proves that if you have a master degree with 55% marks, then you can apply for lecturer post without worrying about your age.
