Is it beneficial to study PhD(Physics) through correspondence?

Hi friends, I want to do research in Physics. For that, I know that I have to do PhD. But I am working as a Professor in a private college. I have done my MPhil in Physics. I am thinking to do PhD in correspondence mode. But I am not sure that it will give me benefit or not. I want to know about this.
