To appear in UGC NET candidate is required to have completed his/her Master's degree in the concerned discipline with at least 55% marks in aggregate (marks relaxation up to 5 % is allowed in case of reserved category candidates as per the government norms) from a recognized university. Candidates pursuing their Master's degree course are also eligible for appearing in the same examination provisionally.

Also, in case you are interested in becoming an Assistant professor then there is no upper limit but for the case of JRF (Junior Research Fellowship), your age must not exceed 30 years. The upper age limit is relaxed for reserved category candidates as per the government norms.
