After completing your bachelors in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology can you study further to get a doctorate in SLP AND AUDIOLOGY ? So that you are able to use the title ‘ Dr. ‘ and be referred to as a Doctor rather than a specialist/therapist. Also roughly how long would it take to earn your doctorate?

Eligibility and Duration for Doctorate in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology is as follows.

If you are pursuing direct Doctorate after Bachelor’s than it will take 5 years.

If you are pursuing Doctorate after Master degree than it will take only 3 years.

Some universities are offering 5 year Doctorate course while some are offering 3 year Doctorate course.

You are eligible for both courses.

Eligibility criteria and Duration for Doctorate in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology:-


✓ Educational Qualification:- Students must have passed M.Sc. (Aud) / M.Sc. (Sp. & Hg.) / MASLP degree examination of the University of Mysore or any other examination considered equivalent by the University of Mysore with a minimum of 55% (50% in the case of SC/ST) marks.
✓ Experience:- Students must have one-year work/research experience after M.Sc. (Sp. & Hg.)/M.Sc. (Aud)/ MASLP.
✓ Course Duration:- 3 years.

1. The student should have passed post - graduation from any recognized university.

2. The duration is three years for this course.

3. Admission for this course is done on the basis of entrance test or on the basis of merit.

4. The candidate should be the citizen of India.

The candidate should have completed post- graduation with relevant subject from any recognized university.

The duration of this course is three years in Speech Language Pathology and Audiology.

There is no age bar to pursue this course.
