Hello,
I am a M.Tech in Environmental Engineering candidate from AMU. From where I can do PhD? Is GATE score must for doing PhD from IIT? Can I take admission in PhD in IIT through NET. Can someone please give me the answer on this soon?

You are a student of M.Tech in Environmental Engineering candidate from AMU so you are eligible for Ph.D course but you should qualify in GATE and UGC NET exam.

GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.

If you have Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or Architecture/Design or its equivalent or masters degree in science department then are eligible for GATE exam.

There are no restriction for attempts in GATE exam.You can apply any number of time. There is no age criteria but your minimum age must be above 18 years.

NET stands for National Eligibility Test.

The educational qualification required for NET exam is masters degree from a recognized university with above 55% marks. 5% relaxation is given for SC/ST category candidates. Final year student are also eligible for NET exam.

There is no age criteria for NET exam but for JRF posts, your age should be below 28 years.

If you are able to crack the NET Examination then you do not require a GATE Score to get admission to the course of PhD.
You can get admission to the course of PhD also on the basis of a GATE Score but in that case you do not require a NET Score.
So either one of the scores in the Entrance Examination is enough to get admission to the course of PhD.
