Re: After B.Tech in MEchanical engineering what can I do?
You have two options after completion of B.Tech course in Mechanical engineering.
- First is jobs. You can go for jobs in public as well as private sectors. You can find jobs in PSUs, private steel and power plants, defense sector, administrative field, etc. However, for such jobs, test of mathematics will be there, hence you need to study mathematics to some extent and with good level of hard work you can get through. - Second is higher studies. You can go for higher studies. However, it is recommended that you do not go for higher studies in your domain. This is because mathematics is an important part of engineering especially mechanical engineering and it will play a huge role in higher studies. However, if you have strong point in some fields you can definitely take up higher studies in that field. Otherwise you can opt for higher studies in other fields like MBA in HR, Marketing, Mass communication, Tourism, Fashion, etc. |

After completion of B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, you can pursue your higher studies in M.Tech Mechanical Engineering course. To get admission in M.Tech course, you need to appear for GATE examination. Candidates who have completed or appearing in final year of Graduation degree or equivalent are eligible to appear for GATE examination. By scoring good marks in GATE examination, you can get admission in M.Tech course in top colleges/ universities. After getting admission in M.Tech course, then you can pursue your M.Tech course in Mechanical Engineering.

As you’re from mechanical background we would recommend you to go for Masters Program in Design. With the world becoming more conscious about how everything looks from durables to food items to clothes and accessories, there is a huge scope in the design industry. And this is why M.des has become one of the most sought after course for a mechanical engineer in todays job market. You can pursue specialization like M.Des in Transport Design, M.Des in Product Design or M.Des in Industrial Design. All are of great value. This M.Des degree will definitely increase your marketability in the job market. If your interest lies in this field go ahead and pursue this course. Good luck! |
