Here are some suggestions to get a better job with M.Tech in Remote Sensing and GIS Application and 6 years of experience:
• Enhance your skills and certifications: Pursue additional courses and certifications in spatial analysis, image processing, database management, cloud computing, etc. to strengthen your profile. Getting ArcGIS certified can be particularly helpful. Some options are Esri certifications, GRASS GIS certifications, Google Maps Partner Certification etc. • Build a strong resume highlighting your qualifications, skills, experience, projects, publications, achievements, etc. Have a separate section for skills with proficiency levels. Get recommendations from managers and mentors. • Apply for senior positions in India and abroad: Look for job openings in companies related to geospatial technology, remote sensing, GIS, mapping, surveying, etc. Apply for profiles like GIS Analyst, Geospatial Specialist, GIS Modeler, GIS Manager, Head GIS etc. • Target companies in sectors like government, defense, infrastructure, telecom, real estate, natural resources, consulting, etc. This includes companies such as ESRI, MapmyIndia, Trimble, Maxar, DLR, NWGIS, etc. As well as government organizations like ISRO, SAC, NRM, etc. • Apply to international opportunities on sites like Indeed, Monster, Glassdoor as well as company websites. Meet eligibility criteria for work visas and be ready to clear interviews via video calls. Countries with good job prospects include US, Canada, Australia, UK, etc. • You can also consider self-employment options such as freelancing, consulting or starting your own GIS solutions business. Make use of your experience and expertise. Build a strong portfolio of worksamples and case studies. • Pursue research opportunities to enhance your profile. Some options are PhD in GIS Science or related areas, Post-doctoral research, Research engineer/scientist positions etc. Research profiles are highly valued. • Stay up-to-date with new technologies, software tools and innovations in the geospatial domain. Continuous learning will make you a strong candidate. Take MOOCs, read publications and join professional networks. • Work on your soft skills such as communication, problem-solving, leadership, business development, etc. which will be useful for senior roles and managerial positions. |
