The Biju Patnaik University of Technology was established in 2002 when it launched its course in Computers. It offers many courses related to science and technology besides MBA degrees. This university designed the syllabus of Information Technology by putting all topics of Operating Systems (OS) in it. The sixth semester paper is formulated along these topics and the course exploits the subject completely to gain full information and knowledge about the software system. It includes the characteristics and functions of OS and the concepts of hardware that are regulated by the system. Certain important areas like file organization, file storage, file structures and file descriptors are instructed via the course. IPC or Inter Process Communication, which is a communicating interface between the software and hardware of computers, is taught articulately in this and students are given practical demonstration on them. This determines the professional fate of students regarding how well they handle programming faults.
