The Cryogenic Fundamentals paper is conducted for a total duration of two and a half hours and the total marks for the examination paper is 70. The total question paper is divided into five questions and each question is compulsory. You have options in question 3, 4 and 5, each contains two questions and you have to answer any one. Each question is divided into 2 sub questions of 7 marks each. Some of the topics that are part of the question are Ultimate and yield strength of materials, effect of temperature, cryogenic applications, heat and its transfer, pressure and measurement. There are some numerical on various topics like heat, pressure, specific heat, latent heat, flow rate and temperature. Superconductivity, Vapour Pressure Thermometer, insulation like multi layer and opacified powder, fluid capacitance, magnetic thermometer and evaporation are also covered. Cryotons, hazards of cryogenic industries, thermoelectric effect, thermal conductivity, electric resistance and magnetic permeability is included.
