The paper is of 70 marks and there are 5 questions of 14 marks each. The students must answer all questions, no choices are offered, but there are internal choices within the questions. There are no sections in the question paper. Fr mathematical problems, in case of insufficient data, the student is asked to make necessary assumptions. Some of the questions include a discussion of the characteristic properties of rubber; briefly explain the ‘segmental motion’ in rubber, the conditions which are necessary for any property to behave as rubber, classification of rubber based on chain structure, mention the different types of molecular motion observed in rubber etc. The questions are mainly based on the properties of rubber and its molecular characteristics. There are also questions from colloidal properties, polymerization, polymers and other properties of rubber. Some important questions are salient features of solution polymerization technique, classification of polymers based on thermal behavior etc.
