Rubber technology deals with the advancement and efficient use of rubber, both natural as well as artificial in the production of goods.
Eligibility:
For securing admission in to B.Tech degree in Rubber Technology, the candidates should have passed the higher secondary school certificate exam (10+2) from any recognized board. The candidate must have physics, chemistry and mathematics in the higher secondary schooling. The minimum eligibility percentage is generally 55% but slight variation is seen from institute to institute. The admission to B.Tech course is merit based. There are all India as well as state level entrance exam that the candidate has to clear in order to secure admission to this course.
Course Outlook:
B.Tech in Rubber technology is a four year full time course. The course is divided into eight semesters. Each semester is of six month duration. Every semester is followed by an exam which has to be passed by the candidate to get promoted to the next semester. The first year study is common to all the engineering streams and provides the base for further studies. In the second year, the candidate is introduced to the subjects related to the stream. Third year is for thorough understanding of the core principles. Fourth year is for project work and industrial training.
Job Prospects:
Rubber industries are gaining importance in today’s world. Research is going on for production of eco-friendly rubber. The scope of work is varied. One may get into rubber synthesizing or rubber utilizing industry. There is a good scope of getting into research also.
