The syllabus scheme for Mathematics in BCA under Mangalore University encompasses the basic numerical sums of discrete mathematics. Topics can be classified into use of reasoning consisting of logical connectives, tautologies and statements, truth tables and axioms consisting of relationships between Boolean algebra and calculus, quantifiers consisting of different types of quantifiers (universal and existential) and predicate calculus, sets and functions outlining the concepts of equivalence classes and relations, cardinality, partial order relations, mappings (bijective, injective, surjective) and finite and infinite sets, groups and semi-groups and finally vector spaces that consist of linear transformations, linear dependence, linear independence, matrices and geometrical interpretations. Functions of variables including partial differentiation coordinate geometry and multiple integrations are also there. The equations and models are covered in detail that illustrates the concepts and ideas more intricately. The relationships are demonstrated through classic examples and problems that are numerically interpreted and analysed for the students.
