Potti Sreeramulu Telegu University, M.A. Sanskrit 1st Year-Grammar and Prosody Papers are designed to test a student’s understanding of the fundamental components of Sanskrit grammar and rhetoric/composition. Questions are based on grammar and students are expected to know the various ‘sutras’, and how they can be used to form various grammatical compounds. Rhetoric is also an important part of this paper and students can be asked questions on identifying the meters of various lines of verse. The process by which they arrive at their concluding regarding metre may also be part of the marking scheme. The ‘sutras’ may be combined with the ‘vrittas’, which are another important part of Sanskrit grammar. Potti Sreeramulu Telegu University, M.A. Sanskrit 1st Year-Grammar and Prosody Papers are thus quite tough but extremely high scoring if the student has grasped the basic concepts properly, and has practised enough.
