I want to join Indian Air Force and become an Airman. Right now I am studying in 11th standard with Science stream. But after completing my 12th, kindly let me know how I can join Indian Air Force and become an Airman? Please help me to know about this asap. Thank you!

To become an Airman in Indian Airforce, you are required to qualify Airmen recruitment examination.

--> Further, the minimum education required to apply for Airmen recruitment examination are as here under :-

* You must be an unmarried Indian male candidate.

* Your age must lie within 17 years to 21 years.

* You must have completed your Class 12th in any discipline with at least 50% marks from a recognised board. For joining Airmen X group, Mathematics and Physics are compulsory as main subjects at Class 12th level examination.

* You must hold the physical fitness as per the service requirement norms.

You can apply for Indian Air Force Group Y and X trade after completion of class 12th with science stream. Just make sure you have got at least 50% marks in your board exams. Age should be below 21 years and there will be no relaxation.

Selection will be on the basis of performance in the written exam and physical fitness test conducted by the Indian Air Force. Just make sure you're ready for it.

Step 1-

The first step toward being an airman is to apply against any vacancies declared from time to time in the leading newspapers making it sure that you fulfill all the basic requirements of job and trade applying for. It is only after checking all eligibility wise application forms that one will receive and admit card that will contain all the relevant details like the date, time and venue of your examination.

Step 2-

There will be a written test of the subjects of which depends upon the trade one is selected for.
Technical streams:
Four papers- English, Mathematics, Science and intelligence in general awareness.
Non technical- English and intelligence and general awareness.

Step 3-

After clearing the written test one has to go through a medical examination conducted by a medical officer of the armed forces.

Step 4-

On successfully clearing the selection process the name of the candidate will feature in the all India merit list displayed at the air man selection centres, where the tests were conducted and a call letter will be sent requesting you to report to the air man selection Centre for enrollment.

Airman in Indian airforce is considered to be equivalent to soldier in army.
There are two groups that are group x and group y, on the basis of given eligibility criteria you can apply any one of them.

Eligibility (Group 'X' except education instructor)

Candidate should have to pass 10 + 2 with Mathematics, physics and English or 3 year diploma course in engineering.
The upper age limit is 21 years.

Group X education instructor:-

BA with English as one of the subject or B.Sc or BCA with minimum 50% marks.
Candidates with B.Ed are also eligible.

Group Y trades( except Med asst and musician)

Candidates should have to pass 10 + 2 or its equivalent.
Upper age limit is 21 years.

Group Y Med asst trade:-

Candidates should have to pass 10+2 with physics, chemistry, biology and English.

Group Y musician trade:-

Candidates should have to pass 10 + 2 or its equivalent.
You should be proficient in playing at least one of the instrument such as a violin, trumpet, saxophone etc.
