The ICSE curriculum and certifications are recognized by many international universities, making it easier for Indian students to apply for and gain admission to institutions abroad.

Consider these important points while making a choice :

- Your child's learning style: Each educational board follows a distinct teaching style. It is crucial that you understand this and choose the most suitable one of your child. while education in CBSE school is focused on developing core skills, IB schools stress more on improving research abilities whereas CICSE follows a spiral curriculum where basic facts are taught first to the students and more details are introduced later.

The most basic tip for parents is that plan your child's educational board depending on the nature of your job. If there is a high chance that you may have to relocate abroad for work, it is better to choose an international curriculum like IB Board. Transfer of schools, shifting from one country to another become much easier with an international board.

Again if your child aspire to pursue undergraduate studies outside India, IB or ICSE board would be better for him or her because when it comes to taking up entrance exam outside India like the SAT and TOEFL students from the International Boards are better prepared because of the higher quality of teaching languages especially English. However, this IB Board may not be good option, if you plan college education for your child within the country competitive entrance exam like the IIT-JEE, AIEEE, and AIPMT are primarily based on the CBSE syllabus.

A vital lesson for parents is not to go by popular opinion of the the others, one should take into account all the above factors before choosing the curriculum that is most suited to the child.

Here are some of the most popular syllabuses in India for students who are moving to India:

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE): CBSE is a national syllabus that is recognized by Indian universities and education boards. It is known for its strong emphasis on science and mathematics, but also includes a range of other subjects such as social sciences, languages, and arts.

Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE): CISCE is another popular syllabus in India that is designed to provide a balanced education with equal emphasis on both theoretical and practical learning. It covers a range of subjects including languages, humanities, and sciences.

International Baccalaureate (IB): IB is a globally recognized syllabus that focuses on developing critical thinking, creativity, and communication skills. It is offered in several international schools across India and can be a good option for students who plan to study abroad in the future.

State boards: Each state in India has its own board of education that offers a syllabus tailored to the specific needs of students in that state. This can be a good option if you plan to settle in a particular state and want your child to learn about the local language, culture, and history.
