Sir, My son reads in class UKG in a ICSE affiliated school.His date of birth is 14 July 2016. I want to enrolled him class 2 in this year. Is he able to enrolled in class 2 ?

It is not possible for a child who is currently in UKG (Upper Kindergarten) to directly enroll in Class 2. UKG is a part of the pre-primary level, and children typically progress to LKG (Lower Kindergarten) after completing UKG. After completing LKG and UKG, children move on to Class 1, which is the first year of primary school.

The minimum age requirement for admission to Class 1 in most Indian schools is 5 years, as on 31st March of the year in which admission is sought. In your case, your son's date of birth is 14th July 2016, which means that he will turn 5 years old only in July 2021. Therefore, he will be eligible to enroll in Class 1 in the academic session starting in 2021-22, not in Class 2.

It is important to ensure that children are developmentally ready for the grade they are entering, and promoting a child to a grade that is beyond their level of readiness may not be in their best interest. It is recommended to follow the standard progression of grades to ensure that children have a solid foundation in the concepts and skills required for success in higher grades.

As per the guidelines of the ICSE board, the age limit of the student should be between 7 years 6 months to 8 years 6 months to get admission in class 2.

If your son satisfies the above criteria, then he is eligible for admission to class 2.

Average age for admission in ICSE and CBSE schools is 4 years.

It's 3years 6months for LKG in ICSE as well as CBSE schools.
