MPSC Rajya Seva Examination


Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) is a Constitutional Body established Under Article 315 of Constitution of India which provides a smooth and efficient functioning of the Government of Maharashtra ("GoM") by providing suitable candidates for various Government posts.

MPSC Conducts
To conduct examinations for appointments to the service of Government of Maharashtra and its allied organizations.

MPSC's Eligibility Criteria and Scheme of Examination
Educational Qualification:

Bachelor's degree in any faculty of a recognized university.
Age limit

* 19 to 33 years - Open Category
* Five yrs relaxation for SC/ST, Players (Winners of Awards)
* Five yrs limitation for Ex-servicemen Army, Short service Commission
* Age 45 for disabled persons.

MPSC Rajya seva Examination (Overview)
This Examination recruits candidates for the post of Deputy Collector, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sales Tax Officer and other Class I and II Officers

There are Three Stages:
1) Preliminary Examination
2) Main Examination
3) Interview


Preliminary Examination

Paper I - (200 marks)

* Current events of state, national and international importance.
* History of India (with special reference to Maharashtra) and Indian National Movement.
* Maharashtra, India and World Geography - Physical, Social, Economic Geography of Maharashtra, India and the World.
* Maharashtra and India - Polity and Governance - Constitution, Political System, Panchayati Raj, Urban Governance, Public Policy, Rights issues, etc.
* Economic and Social Development - Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector initiatives, etc.
* General issues on Environmental Ecology, Bio-diversity and Climate Change - that do not require subject specialisation.
* General Science.

Paper II - (200 marks) Comprehension

* Interpersonal skills including communication skills.
* Logical reasoning and analytical ability.
* Decision - making and problem - solving.
* General mental ability.
* Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.) (Class X level), Data interpretation (Charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc.- Class X level)
* Marathi and English Language Comprehension skills (Class X/XII level).

Maharashtra State Service Exam (MPSC)

Eligibility Criteria:
The minimum and the maximum age limit specified by the Maharashtra Public service commission for these posts would vary between 19 to 33 years. There will be the relaxation in the upper age limit of reserved categories as per the instruction of the Government.
The candidate applying for all these post must possess the degree in any discipline from any recognized University. The applicant along with the degree must have knowledge of Marathi.

Selection Procedure:
The candidates who are found to be eligible for the various posts will be selected on the basis of the written examination conducted by the service commission. The written exam will held on 7thApril, 2013.

How to apply for MPSC Exam 2013?
The candidates willing to apply for the different posts under different departments have to apply online.
To apply online, one has to visit the official website of Maharashtra public service commission. The application fee can be paid by the SBI challan or by the debit card or cash and even Net Banking. T
he application fee is different for the different categories. There is a relaxation in the fees of the application of the reserved categories as per the policy of the Government. The application form has to be filled by providing all the relevant information in the prescribed format.

The last date of filling this application online is 12th February, 2013 and the last date for amount submission in Bank is 13th February, 2013.
