Jabalpur is a city in the state of Madhya Pradesh and it is the third most populous city of the state next to Indore and Bhopal. This city is the administrative headquarters of the district of Jabalpur. Medical College:

Government Ayurvedic College came into existence in the year 1971 and the college is offering BAMS course with an intake capacity of 30 candidates per year as per the approval of the Rani Durgavati University. For seeking admission to this course, candidates must have completed their higher secondary in science stream with not less than 50% of marks in biology, chemistry and physics subjects.

Engineering College:

Jabalpur Engineering College was formerly called as Government Engineering College and this college came into existence in the year 1947. The college is offering UG courses in the fields of information technology, electronics & telecommunication, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, industrial & production engineering and computers science & engineering and PG courses in applied mathematics, applied chemistry and applied physics, MCA with affiliation from Rajiv Gandhi Technical University. Admission to UG courses is done based on Madhya Pradesh Pre-Engineering Test and admission to PG Courses is done based on GATE score secured by the students.

Arts, Science and commerce colleges:

Totally six government colleges are functioning in the city of Jabalpur under this category and some of the colleges under this category has earned autonomous status. Polytechnic Colleges:

Government Women Polytechnic College came into existence in the year 1990 and the college is offering diploma education in subjects like costume Design & dress making, fashion technology, computer science & engineering, electronics & communication engineering and modern officer management. Kalaniketan Government Polytechnic College came into existence in the year 1998 and the college is offering diploma courses in pharmacy, printing, automobile, information technology, computer science, electronics, electrical, civil and mechanical engineering. This institute also offers Post Graduate Diploma CAD/CAM, multimedia technology & animation and part-time diploma course in electrical, civil and mechanical engineering as well. Both these polytechnic institutions are approved by Directorate of Technical Education of the state of Madhya Pradesh.
