Medical Colleges:

Government Medical College came into existence in the year 1947, while the Indira Gandhi Medical College & Hospital came into existence in the year 1968 and in intake capacity of these colleges for the MBBS course offered by these institutions are 200 and 60 students per year respectively. Both these colleges are presently affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. The Government medical college is offering MD course in 11 different disciplines and M.S in five different subjects and totally 32 courses are offered by the college. For seeking admission to these colleges, candidates must get through the All India Level Competitive Medical Entrance Examination. Government Ayurvedic College offers BAMS course with affiliation from the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences.

Dental College:

Government Dental College & Hospital, Nagpur is approved by the Dental Council of India to admit 40 students per year for the BDS course offered by the college.  The college is also offering MDS course in the following branches:

• Prosthodontics

• Periodontics

• Orthodontics

• Oral Pathology

• Oral Medicine

• Conservative Medicine

The intake capacity of all these branches of MDS course is two students per year, while for Prosthodontics and Oral pathology alone the intake capacity of the college is three students per year.

The Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur is a joint venture between Government of India and Government of Maharashtra.
