Government Tibbi College and Hospital is a medical college offering education in Unani System of Medical Sciences. The Central Council of Indian Medicine guides the colleges under the Indian Government’s Ministry of Health. It is running under the health department of the Government of Bihar and is affiliated to B.R. Ambedkar Bihar University located at Muzaffarpur.

Course Offered:

The college is offering BUMS degree that denotes Unani system of Medicine through its anatomy, pharmacology, preventive and social medicine, medicine, surgery and Gynecology & Obstetrics departments and the duration of the course is four and half years apart from one year internship. The college is also offering a one-year course in unani medicine called as Pre-tib.

Admission:

The Central Council of Indian Medicine has given permission to the college to admit 40 students of which 27 numbers are admitted for the first year of BUMS course on the basis of the marks secured by the students in Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination. Only students who have studied Urdu in their matriculation or equivalent course will be admitted. The remaining 13 seats are allotted for admitting students to the Pre-tib, which is a one year course conducted by the college.

Eligibility Criteria:

As mentioned earlier, the candidates must get through the BCEC examination and other rules to be complied are as follows:

• Candidate should be more than 16 years of age at the beginning of the academic session

• He should be domiciled or a native of the state of Orissa or Bihar

• He should have completed higher secondary education with Urdu as a compulsory subject or the Malluvi Examination conducted by the Madarsa Board.

• The student should be able to submit a conduct certificate from the school/institution in which he completed his higher secondary education.
