Higher Engineering Mathematics finds its application in most of the subjects in the course of Engineering. The topics which are taught to the students during their 1st and 2nd year of study are very much helpful in third and fourth year its applications are used to solve many problems. Topics like Lagrangian, graph theory, interpolation, gamma functions, Laplace Transforms, Fourier transforms, statistics etc are used for solving higher order problems.

The topics which are to be studied in this paper are derivatives of functions, higher order differentiation, integration, Legendre Polynomials, Fourier series and Fourier Transforms, Laplace Transforms, Cauchy Euler Equation, Beta Gamma Functions, Bernoulli’s equation, Jacobian, Bessels’s equation, differential equations etc.

Time and Marks For this Paper

The total time duration allotted for solving this question paper is of three hours and the total marks that can be obtained in this paper is seventy.

Overview of the Paper Pattern

This paper contains a total of seventy marks. The duration of the examination of this paper is two and half hours. There are five questions in this paper and the respective marks contained by each question are mentioned on the right margin of the question paper. There is no overall choice provided in the question as all the questions of this paper are compulsory, but some internal choices are provided in some of the questions for the ease of the students. Instructions are given on the first page of the question to write the serial no. of the question in the left margin of the answer sheet. There is no negative marking in this question paper. The total marks contained by each individual question are printed on the right side of the margin. Separate answer sheets are provided for answering these questions.
