Candidates who are interested to work as specialist officers in certain public sector banks should qualify the test conducted by Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). They can apply for any of the specialist officer post according to their educational qualification. Certain eligibility requirements are specified for each specialist officer post.

Qualifying Examination

I.T. Officer (Scale-I and Scale -II)

Candidates who possess undergraduate degree or postgraduate degree in any of the subjects given below are eligible for the post of Scale-I and Scale-II

Graduates who have successfully completed DOEACC ‘B’ level course can also apply for this post. It is mandatory that these candidates should obtain the concerned degree from any recognized university. One year experience is required to apply for the post of I.T. Officer (Scale-II)

Agricultural Field Officer (Scale -I)

Those who have obtained degree from a recognized university in Agriculture or any of the allied subjects given below can apply for this specialist officer post.

• Fishery Science
• Horticulture

Rajbhasha Adhikari (Scale-I)

Those who are applying for this post should posses a postgraduate degree in Hindi or Sanskrit. Hindi postgraduates should have studied English as one of the subjects during their graduation while Sanskrit postgraduates should have studied both Hindi and English during their graduation.

Law Officer (Scale-I and Scale -II)

Bachelor’s degree in Law is required for the candidates who are applying for the post of Law Officer (Scale –I) or Law Officer (Scale –II). Those who are applying for Scale-II position should have three years experience in practicing at Bar or Judicial Service. Same period of experience is needed if they have worked as a Law officer in the Legal department of the government or any reputed bank or any public sector undertaking. No experience is needed to apply for the position of Law Officer (Scale –I).

Technical Officer (Scale-I)

Those who possess an engineering degree from a recognized institution are eligible to apply for this post. B.Pharm graduates can also get into the post of technical officer.

HR/Personnel Officer (Scale-I)

Candidates should complete their graduation and obtain postgraduate degree or diploma in any of the subjects given below to get into this post.

• Labour Law
• Personnel Management
• Social Work

Those who possess degree or diploma in Business Administration/Management are also eligible for this post, if they have taken the specialization in Human Resource Development or Human Resource Management. All of these qualifications should be obtained from a recognized university.

Marketing Officer (Scale I)

Candidates should obtain any of the qualification below from a recognized university to apply for this post.

• Master of Business Administration (Marketing)
• Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration
• Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management

Those who have obtained any degree or diploma equivalent to these qualifications with specialization in Marketing are also eligible to apply for this post. The concerned degree or diploma should have obtained from a recognized university.

Who are eligible to apply?

Candidates who have passed their qualifying examination mentioned above can apply for the IBPS specialist officer exam. If their age is between twenty and thirty five years, then they can apply for any of the specialist officer post except I.T. Officer (Scale-II) and Law Officer (Scale II). Minimum age limit specified for these posts is twenty one years and maximum age limit is forty years.
