Subordinate Services Commission was re-designated as Staff Selection Commission (SSC) on 26th September, 1977. Making recruitment to Group C and Group B posts in departments of Government of India is the main responsibility of SSC. Nine regional/sub-regional offices located at different states of India consitutes the network of Staff Selection Commission. A Chairmen assisted by two members and a secretary or controller of Examination, heads the commission.

Staff Selection Commission Eastern Region (Kolkata) is making recruitment on the following positions of Junior Engineer, Scientific Assistant, Library and Information Assistant, Senior Zoological Assistant, Zoological Assistant and Junior Zoological Assistant in various ministeries or offices under the Government of India.

1. Recruitment of Junior Engineer (Electrical):
No. of posts: 2 posts are available.
Age Limit: Candidates should be in between 18 to 27 years of age.
Pay Scale: Rs. 9300-34800 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 4200.

2. Recruitment of Junior Engineer (Mechanical):
No. of posts: 12 posts are available.
Age Limit: Candidates should be in between 18 to 27 years of age.
Pay Scale: Rs. 9300-34800 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 4200.

3. Recruitment of Scientific Assistant (Non-Destructive):

9. Recruitment of Junior Zoological Assistant:
No. of posts: 6 posts are available.
Age Limit: Candidates should not be more than 25 years of age.
Pay Scale: Rs. 5200-20200 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 2800.

Application Fee

Rs. 50 is the amount of application fee need to be paid by interested candidates. However, candidates belonging to SC/ST/PH/Ex-SM/Women categories, are exempted from paying this fee. The application fee must be submitted by the means of a Central Recruitment Fee Stamps (CRFS) only. Candidates can get CRF stamps from head post office spreaded all over the country.

How to apply: Applications in the prescribed format must be sent in an envelope only. The envelope must be superscribed as “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF ______________”. The other required documents such as DOB certificates etc are also need to be sent in support of the application form. The envelope must reach to the following address on or before 18 March 2011.
