Staff Selection Commission was initially incorporated with the name of Subordinate Services Commission under Government of India. The commission was set up on July 1, 1976 and started functioning under the Department of Personnel & Training. The commissin actually came into existence for making recruitment on zonal basis for non technical Group C posts under the Central Government. The commission has also been allowed to make recruitment for Group B and Group C posts under the Cnetral Government. The commission comprises of a Chairman, a secretary cum Controller of Examinations and two other members.

Job Profile:

Candidates are invited to apply for filling up the positions of Assistant (Legal) and Junior Technical Assistant in Staff Selection Commission (Eastern Region). All eligible candidates are required to meet all the eligibility condition set for their desired position or else their applications will not be cosnidered by the commission.

Eligibility:

Assistant (Legal): Candidates are required to have age less than 30 years for this post.
Junior Technical Assistant: Candidates are required to have age less than the prescribed maximum age limit i.e. 28 years.

Candidates belonging to reserved categories may get relaxation of few years in the upper age limit as per the rules of Government of India.

Educational Qualification:

Assistant (Legal): Candidates should have done Degree in Law from a recognized university with atleast 3 years experience in the relevant field.

Junior Technical Assistant: Candidates must have done Graduation from a recognized institute or university of India. Candidates with qualification less than the prescribed one will not be considered for the post under any circumstances.

Assistant (Legal): Only 21 posts are available.
Junior Technical Assistant: Only 1 post is available.

Pay Scale:

Assistant (Legal): Rs. 9300-34800 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 4600.
Junior Technical Assistant: Rs. 9300-34800 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 4200.

Application Fee:

Candidates belonging to General and OBC categories are required to submit an application fee of Rs. 50 only. However, no fee is need to be submitted by the candidates falling under SC/ST/PH/Ex-Serviceman categories. The application fee must be submitted by the means of Central Recruitment Fee Stamps (CRFS) only. The CRFS stamps are available at head post office all over the country.

How to apply: Application forms must be filled in the prescribed format only. The enclosures should be sent in an envelope only. The envelope is required to be superscribed as “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF _____________________”. The last date for reciept of application is extended by 7 days for candidates from far flung areas.
