Karnataka State Board conducts SSLC. Kannada is one of the subjects offered by it as second language. Other second language subjects are English and Alternate English. The question paper is a question cum answer booklet.

Division of Paper:

The question paper has eleven sections. There are questions from both literature and language. There are two sections on grammatical questions. Prose and poetry occupies next some sections. At last there is a paragraph as well as letter writing question.

Time Allotted and Marks:

It is a hundred marks paper. Time given is two and a half hour.

Pattern:

The paper contains fifty four questions divided into eleven parts.First fifteen questions are multiple choice questions.These are of total fifteen marks. Questions from literature as well as grammatical questions are there in this section. Next five questions are there on fill in the blanks. Next section contains five questions on meanings and they are matching questions. Next many questions are there from prose and poetry. Then there is a five marks question on paragraph writing. One out of three topics needs to be chosen for writing paragraph.Then two letters are given. One is formal and the other is informal. Any one of the two needs to be done. It carries five marks
