Kannada is a language spoken predominantly in the Indian state of Karnataka and the native speakers of this language are called as Kannadigas. The language holds the pride of being one of the top 30 spoken languages in the world. It is one of the scheduled languages in India and is the administrative and official languages in the state of Karnataka. The language is written with the help of Kannada Script, which has evolved from the Kadamba Script.

The language belongs to the Dravidian family and the history of the language is conventionally divided into three periods being old Kannada, Middle Kannada and Modern Kannada, which belonged to 6th to 13th Centuries, 14th to 18th Century and 19th century to present.
