The West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited shortly called as WBPDCL came into existence in the year 1985 and it was established by the Government of West Bengal for generation of electric power in the state of West Bengal. The corporate office of the company is located in the city of Kolkata.

West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited has called for applications in prescribed format from eligible candidates for various positions and here are the details regarding the notification issued in this regard:

Name of the Vacancies: Manager (HR & A), Assistant (HR & A), Assistant Manager (legal), Security Officer, Medical Officer, Officer-on-special duty

Number of Vacancies: Total number of vacancies is 18, which is divided among the two positions mentioned above as follows:

1. Manager (HR & A) - 02

2. Assistant (HR & A) - 05

3. Assistant Manager (legal) - 01

4. Security Officer - 03

5. Medical Officer - 06

6. Officer-on-special duty – 01

Reservation: Reservation of positions shall be made for reserved category candidates according to the guidelines issued by the West Bengal Government from time to time. Candidates belonging to OBC/ST/SC category from other states will have to apply as general category candidates.

Pay Scale: For each of the positions, pay scale prescribed by the WBPDECL is given below:

1. Manager (HR & A) – Rs.15600-39100+GP of Rs.6600

2. Assistant (HR & A) - Rs.15600-39100+GP of Rs.5400

3. Assistant Manager (legal) - Rs.15600-39100+GP of Rs.5400

4. Security Officer - Rs.15600-39100+GP of Rs.5400

5. Medical Officer - Rs.15600-39100+GP of Rs.5400

6. Officer-on-special duty – Contracted position for a salary of Rs.25000 per month for a period of one year

Age: Upper age requirement for each position as on 31st of December 2011 is given below:

1. Manager (HR & A) – 40 years

2. Assistant (HR & A) – 33 years

3. Assistant Manager (legal) – 33 years

4. Security Officer – 40 years

5. Medical Officer – 37 years

6. Officer-on-special duty – 62 years

Mode of selection:

Selection of candidates will be made based on their performance in written test and interview for positions 1-5. In addition, final selection will be made based on medical fitness test. For position No.6, selection will be based only on personal interview. Written test and interview will be held only in the city of Kolkata.
