Mount Carmel College of Teacher Education for Women was established in the year 195 and it is one of the oldest and popular teacher training institutes available in the state of Kerala. The college wok under the control of the Carmelite Sisters of St.Teresa (CSST) and it is approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).

The college is affiliated to the Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam and it offers excellent undergraduate and post graduate courses in the field of education through qualified lecturers, and state-of-the-art infrastructural facilities.

The Mount Carmel College of Teacher Education for Women offers the following professional courses:

• B. Ed (Bachelor of Education).

• M. Ed (Master of Education).

Eligibility criteria for getting admission:

Bachelor of Education:

Candidates, who have passed graduation in any stream with at least 45% marks, are eligible to apply for the B. Ed course. They must get qualified in the Kerala B. Ed Entrance Exam and personal interview conducted by the college in order to get admission for the course in the college.

Master of Education:

Candidates, who have passed B. Ed degree with at least 50% marks, are eligible to apply for the M. Ed course. The college admits candidates for the M. Ed course based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination as well as based on the interview conducted by the college.

Infrastructure:

Mount Carmel College of Teacher Education for Women offers the facilities such as laboratories, library, workshop, hostel, sports, medical facility, and auditorium. The library of the college is equipped with excellent collections of books, and magazines. The laboratories and workshop of the college are spacious and well furnished. The auditorium of the college is spacious and well ventilated. The college has separate hostel facility for boys and girls and the hostel rooms are well furnished with required facilities.
