M.Sc in Nuclear Medicine is one of the new M.Sc courses started by Panjab University. The course was started in the academic year 2007-08 with the approval of Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India. Only 10 seats are available for the course. Admission of eligible candidates to these limited number of seats are done on the basis of OCET and marks obtained in degree exam.

Semester –I

  • Fundamental Biology
  • Applied Mathematics, Biostatistics and Computer Applications
  • Radiation Physics

Semester-II

  • Fundamentals of Electronics and Biomedical instrumentation
  • Radiation Detection and Measurements
  • Radiation Biology and Radioisotopes applications

Semester-III

  • Nuclear Medicine and Allied Instrumentation
  • Radionuclides Generators and Radiopharmaceuticals
  • Radiation Safety and Dosimetry

Semester-IV

  • Nuclear Medicine Imaging and Radionuclide therapy
  • Recent Advances in Nuclear Medicine

Eligibility Criteria for M.Sc in Nuclear Medicine

Those who have completed B.Sc degree with 50% marks are eligible for admission. The degree must be obtained in any of the subjects of Nuclear Medicine, Biophysics, Radiation Science, and Pharmacy. Bachelor degree holders with Physics and Chemistry or Chemistry and Biology as main subjects are also eligible for admission.

Admission Process for M.Sc in Nuclear Medicine in Panjab University

Eligible candidate are given admission to the course on the basis of Other-Common Entrance Test (OCET). Marks obtained in graduation will also be considered for admission. Equal weightage will be given for marks obtained in entrance test and qualifying degree exam. OCET for M.Sc in Nuclear Medicine is conducted as an objective model test. There will be 75 questions for the test carrying 1 marks each. Time allotted for the completion of the test is 1 hour and 30 minutes. Syllabus for the test is subject related and is based on the topics covered at bachelor level.

In order to attend the entrance test, candidate should send their application online. First step in this is to register online. This can be done through the web portal for OCET. The registration process will be completed by entering the basic details of the candidate like name, address, mail-id, etc. On completion of the process, a login id and password will be issued and a new web page will be opened for downloading the fee challan. Using the fee challan form, candidate can make fee payment through any of the branches of SBI. Application fee for attending OCET is Rs. 1600/-.

After fee payment candidate should login to the website again for final application process. Re-login can be done using login id and password generated at the time of registration. In the second stage of registration further details (like educational qualifications, institution studied, etc) must be entered along with a passport size photograph. Photograph must be uploaded in scanned form.
