Nalanda Medical College was established in the year 1970 and the college is offering medical education with affiliation from Magadh University located at Bodhgaya. Government of Bihar took over the college in the year 1978 and it got recognition from Medical Council of India. Initially, the intake capacity of the college was 150 students, but after it was taken over by the government, its intake capacity was reduced to 50 students.

Courses offered:

Nalanda Medical College is offering MBBS course with affiliation from Magadh University and the college has received permission from the year 2010 to start PG teaching in the subjects given below:

• Physiology

• Biochemistry

• Pharmacology

• Pediatrics

• F.M.T

Intake capacity:

For the UG course, the intake capacity of the college is 50 students per year and for the post graduate courses, the intake capacity of the college is four seats for physiology, three for biochemistry, four for pharmacology, one each for pediatrics and F.M.T courses. These seats include both state and central quota seats.

Central library:

The central library of Nalanda Medical College is located in the administrative block in such a way that students and teachers can get easy access to the books. The library has a collection of more than 18000 books and it is subscribing for 100 journals.

Other facilities offered by the college:

Apart from the rich library, Nalanda Medical College is also offering several other facilities like internet, L.C.D projector, wide collection of computers and laptops with facility to take print outs with the help of dotmatrix and inkjet printers. The campus of the college also includes rich museums for the departments of forensic medicine, microbiology, pathology and anatomy.

Each and every department functioning in the college has their own labs with adequate and modern facilities according to the guidelines of Medical Council of India.
