PhD as Part Time
PhD or doctor of philosophy is considered to be one of the most prestigious courses in our country. Applying for PhD means, a person is dedicating his whole knowledge to contribute to the academic world, to the society and for development of the people. The candidate must have a well structured plan and subject knowledge before applying for this PhD. The candidate must have a very good interest in the subject for which he is doing the doctoral program. But doing PhD as part time is another opportunity available for candidates who have a job or cannot leave the job.
The Candidates applying for doing PhD as part time should be more prepared than the candidates who are doing in the regular basis. Doing PhD as part time will take more time for the candidates to complete it when compared with the regular candidates. Mostly people who have a family prefer this part time option because of their family obligations .By doing so they will be able to acquire a degree without compromising their family. Students having jobs also opt for doing PhD as part time because they don’t want to lose their job. There are many such reasons for candidates opting to do PhD as part time, but it is not at all easy to do a part time PhD.

PhD is offered by many colleges in our country. The number of universities offering PhD as part time is less. Some of the universities that provide this PhD course are given below:

There are various colleges under these universities which provide PhD programs as part time in our country. They also provide scholarships for eligible candidates while doing PhD as part time.
The eligibility for applying for this PhD program is post graduation in the field in which a candidate applies for the PhD. Mostly all the candidates apply for PhD only if they like their core subjects and want to do research on those subjects. Candidates applying for this program will also need to attend a qualifying exam. After successfully passing this exam, the candidate will be able to go on with the part time PhD program.
After all this preparations and all, candidates will need to make many sacrifices in his / her life for successfully completing the PhD program.

Sir, I kindly request you to refer the institution or universities to pursue the Phd course as a part time. As I have done MBA full time course in the year 1995 from the autonomous institute in Poona which is not recognized to any body and simultaneously I completed MCom in the recognized university but with the percentage of 44%. Presently Iam working as a Director in one of the self financing management college.
I do have the experience of 16 years in the industrial field after this course. Now the question arises to me whether I could pursue the Phd research and if it yes what is the overall course package Pl. do let me know to further go ahead with the process or any other alternative.
