Procedure to become Railway Ticket Checker
The vacancies arising in Indian Railways are filled by the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB). Railway Ticket Checker is one of the posts offered by the railways. The selection will be based on a written test followed by an interview. The job profile of a ticket checker includes checking passenger tickets, checking platform tickets and levying fine from passengers travelling without tickets.
Eligibility Criteria
Aspirants should have passed the standard 10 exam (matriculation exam) or an equivalent from a recognized board with 50% marks.
Those aged between 18 and 30 years are only eligible to apply. Relaxation of age is applicable for candidates belonging to the reservation categories like SC, ST, OBC and Physically Disabled.
Application Procedure
Notification regarding vacancies will be published in leading dailies. Notifications can also be accessed from the various Railway Recruitment Board websites. The Railways has 17 Recruitment Boards which are constituted area-wise, who will conduct this recruitment process.
Candidates can apply for the written test online. Provision is given in the RRB’s official website. Candidates can also procure the application forms from specified centers. Candidates are required to pay the specified application fee. There is no application fee for candidates belonging to the reserved categories. Ex-Servicemen and physically challenged candidates are also exempted from paying the application fee. Filled in application forms have to be submitted to the Railway Recruitment Board.
Details regarding application status, examination date, exam centre and admit card can be had from the RRB websites.
Candidates who qualify in the written test will be called for an interview. Successful candidates will be inducted to the post of ticket checker.
Preparation tips
Railway Recruitment Board Exam (RRB) Entrance Exam for the post of ticket checker is an All India examination. It follows an objective model featuring multiple choice questions. The written test contains questions from the following areas:
- General Arithmetic
- Analytical and Quantitative Skills
- General Awareness
- Language General Hindi/General English
