Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Information Technology & Biotechnology was established in the year 2002 and the University Grants Commission’s National Assessment and Accreditation Council have approved the institute with ‘A’ grade status. The institute received affiliation from Bharati Vidyapeeth University on the 7th of August 2002.

Courses offered:

The institute is offering PG, UG, diploma courses in bioinformatics and biotechnology and Ph. D in biotechnology as well. The list of courses offered by the institution is given below:

• Advanced Diploma in Bioinformatics

• Master of Science in

o Bioinformatics

o Biotechnology

• Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology

The institution is following semester pattern of examination in all the above-mentioned courses.

Eligibility for Admission:

For bachelor degree course in biotechnology, the candidates must have completed higher secondary board examination with a minimum aggregate of 50% of marks. For Master of Science in bioinformatics and biotechnology and diploma course, the candidates must have completed Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree with minimum 50% of marks. For Ph. D course, candidates must be a first class graduates in Master of Science.

Admission Procedure:

For UG and PG course, admission of Indian students are made through Common Entrance Test, for diploma course admission is based on the merit secured by students in Bachelor’s degree course and for Ph. D course admission is on the basis of marks secured by the students in master’s degree and interview. No admission test is conducted for foreign students.

Intake capacity:

The institute can intake a student strength of 60, 40, 20, 20 and 4 for B. Sc, M. Sc (Biotechnology), advanced diploma, M. Sc (Bioinformatics) and Ph. D respectively and the intake capacity of foreign students is 9,6,3 and 3 for the first four courses and no foreign students are admitted for Ph. D course.
