Robotics is a uprising and very complex field in India. Our country does not have proper infrastructure niether Industrial requirement of Robotics, infact being the 3rd Largest Defence power in the World Indian Defence Services does not have the applications for Robotics.

Only Automobile, R & D labs, DRDO, ISRO and few more have requirement and applications for Robotics. Infact this is one of the main reason behind lesser number of Institutes with such faculty.

Also Robotics is such a wide field which has various branches like Mechanical Engineering have many branches.

For example:- Artificial Intelligence, CAD,CAM, etc. Robotics is afiled which has balanced combination of Computer, Electronics, Mechanical and Design Engineering.

Thats why Only few Institutes are there in India which provides courses in Robotics and in Maharashtra I think only two institutes are there for it.

IIT, Bombay and Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology.

If you want to build up your career in the field of robotics you should first go for B.tech in Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Computer and then carry on your studies in the field of robotics parallel to your BTech. After your B.tech you can do master degree in robotics.
Also you can go for MECHATRONICS branch in IITs which have been started between past 2-3 years.
