Rashtriya Indian Military College organizes entrance examination for admitting the students to VIII standard. This highly reputed institution is located in Dehradun in Uttarakhand. Students those who join RIMC have to undergo severe training as they have to serve the Indian Defence Forces in the future. They can also find another career path but they are encouraged to join the Defense services. RIMC was established in the year 1922 by the British Empire. The admissions are carried out twice a year that is during the months of January and July.

Structure of Rashtriya Indian Military College Entrance Exam

The candidates are selected to this college on the basis of performance of the candidate in the All India Examination. This examination is held twice a year. The questions for this examination are formulated from standard VII syllabus.

The entrance examination consists of two sections. The first part of the examination comprises of a test paper in English (125 marks). It also has questions from Mathematics (200 marks) and General Knowledge (75 marks). The candidates are allowed to answer the general knowledge questions in any of the regional languages. In order to get a pass in the written test the candidate has to secure a minimum of 50%.

The second part of the examination is a Viva Voce test which is for 50 marks. This test aims in measuring the candidate’s confidence, intelligence and personality.

Eligibility Criteria

The admissions to the Rashtriya Indian Military College are conducted twice in a year. The age of the candidate should not be below eleven and a half years. The admission processes usually starts one year in advance. At the time of admission, the candidate must be studying in any of the reputed schools in class VII. Apart from this the candidate should also produce a fitness certificate to prove that he is physically fit to pursue the course in Rashtriya Indian Military College.

How to Apply?

The admissions are carried out for standard VIII only. The student must be studying in class VII in any of the recognized schools at the time of admission to RIMC. The applications must be submitted to the corresponding State governments. The students are selected to RIMC on the basis of the scores obtained through the entrance examination which is organized nationally. The merit list of the qualified candidates is made and thereafter they are sent for the medical test. The prospectus can be procured by paying an amount of Rs. 310/-. The same along with the question papers can be purchased through post by sending a demand draft of Rs 350/- to the Commandant, RIMC Dehradun - 248003.

How to fill the Form?

The applicants must be aware of the guidelines that have been specified in the notification before the start of filling up of the application form. They have to the write their name in block letters without committing any errors. The details of the qualification must be entered correctly.
