School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi
The School of Planning and Architecture, abbreviated as SPA, is an institute of national resources of India. It gives knowledge and education to students in the field of architecture and planning. It was established as a department of architecture of Delhi polytechnic in 1941. It was in 1959, when it was recognized as School of Planning and Architecture.
The SPA Delhi campus is located near ITO in Indraprastha Estate in Delhi. It is a site of 20 acres. Other campuses of the institute are in Vijayawada in the premises of Acharya Nagarjuna University and in Bhopal in the premises of Maulana Azad national institute of technology.
The institute offers courses in under graduate programs, post graduate programs and PhD/ Doctoral programs.
For admission, the candidate should fulfil the criteria of eligibility for that course as mentioned in the prospectus. The admission form is to be purchased or downloaded from the official website of the institute and filled and submitted with the prescribed fees as demand draft or as mentioned in the prospectus. The candidate must qualify in the merit list of qualifying examination for reserving a seat in the institute.
For undergraduate programs, the candidate applies and qualifies the merit list of AIEEE(All India Engineering/ Architecture Entrance Examination) conducted by CBSE in order to acquire one of the 90 seats available for the bachelor’s program.
The institute has various departments like department of architecture, urban design, urban planning, physical planning, housing, industrial design, transport planning etc. The library of the institute is rich in the collection of books which deals in architecture, planning and designing. The institute also encourages the students in extracurricular activities. The students are encouraged to form dance, music, dramatic groups which they run successfully over the years. Sports forms a significant part in the campus where the overall development of the students is the prime concern.
